Elizabeth Boyd is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. She graduated in 2020 from Capella University with a PhD in General Psychology specializing in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She completed her Master’s degree in Community and School Counseling at Regent University in 2008. Elizabeth is currently working towards a Certificate in Play Therapy from Capella University and towards her credential as a Registered Play Therapist. Elizabeth has experience working in both community and school settings. Elizabeth enjoys working with children as young as age 4. Elizabeth strives to partner with families and provide strategies for the home that support the growth of the child. She also enjoys working with adolescents and adults and has a wide range of experience working with anxiety, depression, bipolar, OCD, ADHD, adoption/foster care, and children who are twice-exceptional. Elizabeth is also a trained provider of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Elizabeth’s counseling approach is collaborative in nature with an emphasis on the whole-child. Maintaining a strengths-based lens and supported by the therapeutic powers of play, Elizabeth seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the child to work towards the identified counseling goals. With adolescents and adults, Elizabeth is mindful of differing needs and will often incorporate elements of CBT, solution-focused, and person-centered/Rogerian therapy. Throughout the counseling process, Elizabeth is focused on empowering her clients on their path towards the change they wish to see.
