Sarah Beth Maier is excited to be working with the individuals and families of the Lake Norman area. She has worked in a variety of community and agency settings providing individual and group counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families as a counselor and play therapist.
Sarah Beth is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in North Carolina and a trained Play Therapist. She specializes in working with children and adolescents as young as 3 years old and was specifically trained in Play Therapy through the Graduate Certificate Program at UNCC while completing her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She works with many clients struggling with anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, self-esteem, adjustment, grief and trauma.
Her work models an eclectic and collaborative approach where goals frequently center around enhancing relationships within family systems and aiding clients in discovering effective means of communicating, coping and healing. She strongly believes in the positive effects of incorporating parents and caregivers in the treatment process and frequently collaborates with and elicits their involvement in their child's experience. She consistently works from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach in addition to Child Centered Play Therapy with younger children and strives to ensure her relationship with clients brings them a feeling of safety and security in their ability to express themselves freely. She truly believes each individual is built with the strength and capability of directing their own process of growth and healing and consistently empowers her clients in utilizing their inner strengths and knowledge of themselves.
